Green/Grön

You are rather new to the dance and probably danced less than a year. You know the basic moves like swing out and circle and have danced socially a few times. Dancing to higher tempos can still feel a bit challenging – but you are starting to discover the beauty of lindy hop. At this level we continue to practice and refine the fundamental figures, and explore new steps and techniques.

Yellow/Gul

At this level you are starting to feel more comfortable in your dance, even in slightly faster tempos. You can easily mix different types of figures and footwork and have started to think more about musicality, trying to adapt your dance to the music. You are not afraid of challenges with new figures and techniques.

Blue/Blå

At this point you have danced regularly for several years and have probably been attending several different dance events. You adapt your dance to the music, vary your footwork, dance at higher tempos and add styling and variations to your dance. At this level basic figures, such as swing outs, feel effortless even at higher tempos. This is a level that you can stick around on for a while.

RED/Röd

This is the advanced level and requires a bit more from you as a participant. Perhaps you are a dance teacher yourself at your local scene and are not afraid of a challenge and to push yourself. It is not just about moves and figures anymore – it is more about variations and different rhythms doing them. Hence, the basic techniques should rest on a solid foundation.

Instructors

Sharon Davis & Nejc Zupan

Nils Nygårdh & Elice Fällström

Elice is from Stockholm and has a background as an elite gymnast and modern dancer. At the age of 24 she discovered lindy hop and was immediately hooked. She was particularly drawn to the acrobatic elements of the dance and the emphasis on personal expression as well as the dynamic energy and rich history of swing dancing. What she cherishes most about dancing is the artistic exchange that happens between two individuals—and between the dancers and the music—during every millisecond of a dance. Each moment is unique, and sharing it with others is incredibly beautiful. Elice also enjoys performing on stage, which she frequently does as part of The Hot Shots Swing Dance Company.

Nils Nygårdh, originally from Mora, discovered his passion for dance in his late teens. After moving to Stockholm, he immersed himself further into the world of swing dancing. With his love for tap dance and the energetic, acrobatic style of lindy hop, Nils joined The Hot Shots Swing Dance Company (formerly known as Harlem Hot Shots) in 2015. Alongside his dance career, Nils showcases his musical talents as the drummer for the jazz band Siberian Hot Heads. Additionally, he channels his creative vision as a film producer, focusing on music videos and commercials.

Daniel Larsson & Maja Hellsten

Daniel started at young age with swing dancing. He dances different styles from the swing era such as Tap, Lindy Hop, Charleston and traditional jazz. He is also educated in modern jazz and ballet and he has for many years freelanced as both dancer and choreographer in the musical theatre scene.

Band

Siberian Hotheads

Hot jazz and smooth swing with a latin touch – from the coolest depths of Siberia, Stockholm.

The Siberian Hotheads is a Swedish sextet playing a unique mix of jazz styles best captured by the late 1940’s. Originating from an area of Stockholm colloquially known as ‘Siberia’, the band has since 2021 developed their own characteristic sound and style and established themselves as one of the hottest bands on the Swedish swing dance scene. Inspired by jazz giants such as Roy Eldridge, Illinois Jacquet, Duke Ellington, and Machito, the Siberian Hotheads seamlessly combine traditional jazz with classic swing arrangements, early bop, and latin american influences into a vibrant, swinging, and truly unique sound.
